    首先，谨向您并愿意通过您向贵国人民致以诚挚的敬意和由衷的祝福！
昨日，我们告别了上一世纪里两度大战的噩梦，迎来了新千年的曙光。今天，和平与发展已日渐深入人心，成为新时代的世界主题。和平是全世界人民的共同愿望和追求！
虽然，中国的土地上没有了弥漫的硝烟，但中国人民永远也不会忘却那一次次战乱给我们造成的伤害，作为“二战”中国战场胜利受降见证地的芷江民众，对此感受犹深。我们热爱和平，我们祈愿和平，我们希望向全世界一切善良的人们表达我们的这份心声。为此，湖南省人民政府自2003年起每两年在芷江举办一届“中国芷江·国际和平文化节”。首届节会取得圆满成功，第二届“中国芷江·国际和平文化节”将于2005年9月举办。为了把芷江打造成世界著名的国际和平城，我们正在建设国际和平园，园内将建世界和平钟、和平馆。在和平馆内将镌刻各国领导人的和平题词。
我们期盼着阁下惠书关于“和平”的题词。

Dear Sir/Mdam                      ,
First of all,please accept our high consideration and our heartfelt blessing to you and your people.
Sixty years ago, the world’s people put an end to World War Ⅱ.Promoting a culture of peace for prosperous society and country has been an essential international matter in the 21st century. Witnessing the important negotiations leading to the final surrender of the Japanese  invaders to the Chinese people near the end of World WarⅡ,Zhijiang people were deeply touched for world – wide peace. Now we are eagerly hoping to express our heartfelt wish for peace to the world’s people. Therefore, Hunan People’s Government is to hold China Zhijiang International Peace Culture Festival every other year since 2003 in Zhijiang. The first one has been a great success. The second one is to be held in September,2005. To build Zhijiang a famous international peace city, an international peace park is now under construction, in which a World Peace Bell and a peace exhibition hall will be put up. In the hall, inscriptions for peace written by the political V.I.P.s of various countries in the world will be engraved.
Your inscriptions will be greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to them with our great respect and thanks.

致各国和平组织关于商请签署“芷江和平宣言”的函


    芷江位于中国湖南西部，是“二战”中国战区胜利受降见证地。为弘扬和平文化，增进国际间文化交流与合作，推动和平事业发展，湖南省人民政府、中国人民对外友好协会、中国联合国教科文组织全国委员会将于2005年9月6日至7日在芷江举办第二届“中国芷江·国际和平文化节”。届时将邀请“二战”参战国的和平组织、老兵组织等团体以及和平友好人士签署并宣读《芷江和平宣言》。为使《芷江和平宣言》更具权威性和广泛性，现特寄《芷江和平宣言》，敬请签署，并于2005年7月31日前函复。

Invitation to Giving Signatures

Yours Respected Excellency Mr. Ms                    
Zhijiang County, located in the west part of Hunan Province, has witnessed the surrender acceptance during World War Ⅱ. With a view to promote peace and facilitate international trade and cultural exchanges, Hunan Provincial People’s Government, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO are to hold the 2nd china. Zhijiang International Peace Culture Festival on Sept 6st and 7nd, 2005 in Zhijiang. Invited to sign and read out the Zhijiang Peace Manifesto on the occassion are belligerent states in WWⅡ, organizations of veterans and some peace – loving and friendly personages. To be more sure, we’re sending you the Manifesto. Your signature will be highly appreciated. Please give us a reply before the end of July, 2005. Your honoured letter or fax and your honoured presence will be highly appreciated!
